Yep, that's my opinion, too. I had looked into putting a soundgard cab on my 4430, but the shadetree shop quoted me $5000 to $8000 to do that. So I'd take my $10,000 4430 and make it into a $12,000 4430, but I'd have a soundgard cab... Still can't afford it.

Any suggestions on a safe way to keep a 4 year old on an open station tractor? He just looks so crushed everytime I tell him no - which is often. He really wants to ride. I was thinking about ways to attach a car seat that wouldn't be aggravating. There's just not much room anywhere when the fenders are moved in for 30 inch rows.

I hate to say this... but there is NO way to keep a 4 year old safe on an open tractor.

A previous minister at our church lost his little brother when he fell off the open tractor and was run over by the disk. It happens. And will again.

I have 3 boys of my own... and its hard. I do take them on the sound gard cab tractors, and probably shouldn't do that.

Don't mean to pop the bubble... but you could probably buy a new tractor with a buddy seat for less than the accident cost.

Please be careful.

rrf, I put a seat with a seatbelt from an old bean buggy/bar and mounted it to the top of the fender. Kept my 3-year old in place for 6 years on a Farmall M. For 7 years now I have had my own 4010d with a year-round cab. We don't get in it without hearing protection. That being said, there was no rollover protection for either of us. I honestly would put a sg cab on that 4430. Then the ROPS is built in.
