JD 2010 Electrical ?

I have a 64 JD 2010 issue with starting. In the past I always have to change the ignition switch about every 2 years. I first need some help on the wiring back of the switch since I lost my electrical diagram for that. My fault since I did not replace one wire at a time. The next part would be why do I need to do this every couple of years. The switch is not expensive, and overall is a cheap fix but it is now time to try and figure this out. Any help with the diagram and why I am changing out the switch would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

check your ballast resistor.
