750 engine problem

I need to ask a quick question of you diesel experts- not a lot of experience for me. I was mowing grass with a 750 (Yanmar-Deere hybrid), all was well, then began rattling and blowing white smoke (unburned fuel, you can smell it) so I parked it. I am thinking maybe broken valve or spring, but I am NO DIESEL expert. I am thinking I will need the head off to check. Any thoughts appreciated.

Actually I put it in the shed and left. I an not wanting to crank it too bad it the valve has not already ruined a piston.

ANY WAY looks like some disassembly required.

Rattling and blowing white smoke is typical of an injector stuck "open". Don't be so quick to yank the head 'til you pull the injectors and have them checked.
