224 T baler price check ?

Local salvage yard has a decent JD 224 T baler. I"d like to snag it before its crushed. Really nice shape too. What"s something like this worth? It is 540 pto . Good tires. Unknown how everything else is as a guy trailered it in for scrap iron. western Nebraska. I think it would be a good match for my 44 A.

You could probably part it out for much more than junk price. Our local online classifieds has a nice looking 24T advertised for $4500 but doubt that he will get anything near that.
Offer a little more than they paid for it as they should be happy to make a profit without having to do any processing of it.

The knotter is normally the most troublesome component requiring repairs.

You might add the cost of a knotter repair/rebuild into your cost before submitting a bid. Most anyone that owns one of these should be able to tell you how much it costs to go through a knotter.

Better yet, ask the salvage yard and ask if you can call the previous owner to inquire about operation.
