john deere 4430

Somebody was telling me that one of the most dependable tractors ever made by john Deere was a John Deere 4430 and I was curious what other people thought of the 4430 versus any other tractor john Deere tractor made?

I have a 4430 ive had it for about 4 years I use it for mixing feed everyday for about an hr for about 7 months out of the year its been very good to me , has lots of power cant say anything bad about it

4430s were good tractors .The 40&50&55 series were better and started easier. The cab was the first good cab made from Deere and has been improved .A good 4430 will bring $12/15 K .a 4440 will start at around $18K up to mid 20s for a nice one.An IH of equal power will bring 30/40% less.Much better buy than side counsel 4020 which start at $9K on up.I dont know if the 30/40 series will have the collector appeal but some people are all ready putting them together in sequence so probably in a few years.

We had two, a 1973 ser#13805 new $14,900 and a 1975 ser#51818 new $23,995. The older one was a hard starter in cold weather but the newer one had changes and started easily, only needing a shot of ether on the coldest mornings. Both had lifts that proved too weak for the heavier 3 pt equipment so a lift assist was added to the newer one, as the older one usually wore a 148 loader. Both were good, dependable units that did all the heavy work on a 1200 acre row-crop operation for 25 years. No engine or transmission issues at all. After scraping gears on a syncro-range for 15 years that quad-range was heaven.
