Does the Model 40 have a "live" PTO or is it the same as the MT?

I think the Live PTO Option first became available as an option in the 420 series of tractors (1957?). The 40 would have a transmission driven/direct PTO; all 40 tractors would have had a four speed transmission as well.

The 40 did get a standard 3 point hitch and a little better to climb on to.

Went and looked at a Model 40 yesterday evening.

Yes, it was much easier to climb than our MT.

What version was it. Mine is a W. There are 7 different ones and they all are serial numbered seperate and starting at 60000 so it could be possible to have all 7 and all have the same serial number.

This tractor was a Model 40T.

Owner said he had several calls on it, but all callers wanted a wide front tractor.

I can only think of 6 versions of the 40. C,T,S.U,H & V. Whats's the 7th version? Thanks,Jim

The one I said I have. The W version. Third most rare right
behind the H,and V. Fewer then 1800 built but they don't
seem to sell very good. I have watched u and s models sell
higher.
