630 Oil in gas

I have a "60 model 630 that is getting oil in the gas. With clean fuel in the sediment bowl when I turn the engine over you can see oil mixing with the gas in the sediment bowl. The tractor has sat for about 3 years. It is up and running and runs good until the oil gets to the carb, then it starts to smoke and sputter. Any idea as to wear the oil is coming from?

Your diaphrams in the automatic shut off on the sediment bowl have failed. Pressurized oil is going into the bowl. Easy fix, but you'll probably need to drain your tank and remove the bowl assembly completely. Much easier to work on that way anyway.

It is the auto-fuel-shutoff again..

A diaphragm is bad and engine oil is pushing into the fuel..

I plugged the oil line to mine (soldered the Brass fitting closed) and installed a Manual fuel shut-off..
All I need to do is slid a rubber wedge between the top primer button and the fuel tank, open the manual fuel shut-off and I am good to go..
Keeps FUEL out of the Crankcase, too)..

Thanks for the quick replies! I"m going to see about replacing the diaphragm in the sediment bowl. Please excuse my ignorance but what purpose does the oil line serve anyway? And the other line that runs back up towards the instrument panel, what is it? I don"t have much experience with these old two cylinders, just trying trying to get my great grandfathers old tractor up and running.

The oil line opens the fuel for the tractor to run. No pressure no fuel. The other line goes to the pressure gauge. Ron Mn.

You will get mixed responses on the value of the auto fuel shutoff design. It was ooriginally intended to shut the gas flow off to save the engine if it lost oil pressure. But the diaphragm can get bad with this new gas and can cause gas to get in the crankcase or as you have seen oil in your gas.:
