I just bought ignition key blanks for a dodge durango. They were $160 each, then I had to find someone who's machine would cut them with the big end in the way and finaly back to dodge to have them programed to the car. At least they didn't charge me to program them.

ET, this is just another example of how the Manufactures are getting so carried away on High tech ideas,,I know some are nice, but most of them lead to high priced nightmares, and a lot of them are fuel by EPA mandates. If your on the road any at all you will see big rigs creeping along the road side in "Limp Mode" hoping to find a place to get out of traffic till some one with a lap top can sort out which code shut them down...and now it's even happening to our pick-ups....

Tim, heck, it ain't even just the on-highway vehicles!

My B-I-L works for a New Holland dealer and they had a nightmare spanning three years where a NEW high-dollar windrower would randomly have the hydro ground drive go into a computer-mandated shutdown, stopping it in it's tracks. The second year they thought they had it fixed and put in the town's 4TH of July parade and the hydro shut down on main street, in the middle of the parade!

Finally took a new ECM to make it work!

Can you IMAGINE why a piece of farm equipment needs to be able to override it's operator's command to "drive" and simply stop moving??????
