4020 oil pan full of fuel

I checked the oil in my early 4020 this morning and it was really over full on the dip stick. My first thought was I have hit the jackpot and my tractor in making oil as I sleep. Then I noticed the oil was really thin looking so I thought I need to drain this and see whats going on. When i drained the pan it had almost 4 gallons in it. Long story short the only explanation I could come up with was the fuel pump was leaking into the pan. so I replaced the fuel pump, oil and filter. so far so good.

Question is am I over looking some other possible problem or cause for this?

Would the Injector pump shaft seal leak into the pan with the engine not running?

I am not 100% sure but I think this happened while the tractor was just sitting under the shed. It could have happened the last time i ran it but I don't think so.

Thanks for your response Tim.
It seems like it was the fuel pump. After I replaced it and changed the oil and filter I ran the tractor for a couple of hours and checked the oil . All ok :D I will keep a close eye on it for a while thought just in case but as for now it looks like I am set to go.

I did find some other problems while working on this. Seems the valve on the bottom of the fuel take is not working. It was a mess to put a golf tee in the line after I took it off the pump. oh well such is my life. :D
