John Deere 2440 Not starting

I have a JD 2440, older SN, the problem that I am having is that the starter is turning very slow, and then dies, I have replaced the starter, batteries, cleaned the ground and batteries terminals. When I crank it over I get 3 or 4 turns than it stops, it I raise and lower the 3 pt hitch and all three of the loader valves It will crank over again and start. The other day after it started the hydraulics were chattering like it was low on fluid but I had just filled it, and the main filter was replaces a few months ago. I think someone said something about a bypass valve during that opens during start up, but I don't know where it is. Anybody have any ideas?

First have you relocated the ground(-) cable from the rusty battery box to the engine block or starter mounting bolt?????? Besides adding/using SC valve you can rapidly move steering wheel from side to side while attempting to start engine to relieve hyd pressure. To give the correct destroking screw part numbers will require you to determine which hyd pump your tractor has. Here is one "example" of pump HYDRAULIC PUMP STROKE CONTROL VALVE

I have relocated the ground cable from a rusty spot to a bolt on the engine block, this didn't solve the problem, The starter was just rebuilt and the shop the rebuilt it said that it was bad. Would this also cause the hydraulics to chatter?

Chattering hyd's could be a number of things and I'll list some of them.
plugged hyd sump screen
plugged hyd filter
faulty hyd filter relief valve
worn stroke control valve
broken/leaking supply tube to ind pto(if equipped)
broken/leaking supply tube to hyd hi-lo(if equipped)
worn trans pump
leaking rockshaft control valves
faulty inlet/outlet valves in frt hyd pump
possible faulty loader control valve &/or plumbing

put one of these on it...put one on a 2840 about 8 years ago made a different tractor starting...I run 2 batteries on all but one tractor and no this will not fix your hyd chattering
