CYCLONE A HEAD

Has anyone put a 584,000& up cyclone A head on a pre 584,000 john Deere A. I am looking at a 1944 that the head is cracked bad, but have a good lead on a cyclone A head. Same head gasket according to parts book. any other fit problems???

You might need the shorter head studs, as the late head is 1/4" thinner than the early head, and may have a problem with being able to back off the rocker arm adjuster's enough. If that comes up, you can shim under the rocker stands. It will give you a nice increase in the compression ratio. Depending on the pistons that are there, you might have to run higher octane fuel. Listen for detonation/pinging under full load as the telltale. Mike
