6000 Hi-Cycle Serial Number

I do know the late ones had Green tops and a cushion front I beleive 1992 was the last year.I actually just bought one to spray pastures and ditches as our other sprayer is too big.It seems they might have been made for around 10 years.Basically low maintainance just only held 320 gallon.
 
Are you sure you have all of the serial number???
My trade guide shows the JD 6000 starting with:
7000 in 1986
9001 in 1987
11001 in 1988
13001 in 1989
15001 in 1990

Then the JD 6100 in
002001 in 1997
004001 in 1998

So either the serial number is wrong or it is a 6100.
 
JD Seller, they started with them in the early eighties, possibly even the late seventies. I am thinking this one is around 1981 or 83. And yes, the only number on the tag is 2555. Thanks!
 
They actually started making these sprayers in the 70's. Odds are this is an early sprayer, probably around 1978 or so. Mike
 
First made 1975 , Looks like they started serial # with either 100 or 500; My guess 2555 is a 76" or 77" [ depending how many made each yr.] PC-1516.. shows some dif. in yrs. might help ID. age......
 
They even made those early 6000's with no cabs. I see a few of them around in KY tobacco country. Dad has an early salvage machine with no cab that we robbed an engine out of. It looks like it has never spent a night inside...

There is quite a bit of difference between the early and late 6000's. The late ones are much heavier built.
 
Several different answers but I am sticking to 1992 as last year.We had a 734 then a 6000 w/o cab,then yellow topped cabs then a green topped cab w/cushion front,then went to 6500.All low maintainence and were easy on crop compared to the monsters we have today.The cab made them pretty nice to run and I looked on Tractor House but not one has a year model.I have never seen a 6100 but theres a few 6700 .They just did not have capacity[320/420gal] so became too small for our needs.
