Think I could use the tank strap bolt? Solder small circle connector to one end for sender screw and then 8 inches of wire with larger circle connector soldered to other end. Put one nut on strap bolt, slip on wire connector and then tighten down another nut to sandwich it on that bolt.

That might be sketchy with a poly tank. There is a clamp on the steering pipes above the hood line (between the H and N on the nameplate). This was used as a ground point on the console models. Just be sure the clamp is tight on the radiator rod.
