Needing a fan shourd for a 39 A JD

I think all are the same from 1939-1952 so look at tractor salvage yards. Should be plenty around.
 
NO they aren't all the same. There all the same from 40 up, which the parts place on YT, AND Steiners have, but they don't have one for a 39. That's just one of a BUNCH of things that are different on a 39.
I got one from a parts place supposedly for a 39. Wasn't. Don't fit.
 
I have a complete radiator from a 39A with a shroud for sale. The shroud is in pretty rough shape. If I think about it tomorrow I will compare a later A shroud with the 39 to see what the differance is and get back to you. Tom
 
Just because the serial ## says its a 39, dont mean the front (or rear) end is. Or for that matter the serial # changed. It was built 74 yrs ago. People tamper, tinker & improvise. Ive been told by several that darn well know, that 39-46 are the same. Perhaps it was built in early 39, but as a 38?

As has been discussed before, 39-46,-47,-52, are not all the same, and 39 is the model most different from all the others. Almost every component that touches the radiator (including all parts of the radiator itself) are 39 only. The frame, fuel tank, maincase, radiator, hood, air cleaner, exhaust components, fan shroud, shutters,..............all 39 only. The 1940 model A has some components that are 40 only (maincase) and 41-47 are mostly the same except for the cast frame/pressure cooling during the war.
Anyone who thinks they are all the same from 39-47, or some other year, is mistaken. Anyone rebuilding a 39 will find this out right away.

Maybe I should have mentioned that 39 was the first year for styled tractors for JD. ITS A STYLED TRACTOR.
