T0 All that answered my question...Bob asked if I knew what was wrong with it..
Bob, the drive shaft from engine to trans turns the input shaft on trans but does not move the tractor and the cooler fan on trans barley moves or moves very slowly... Hope this helps. I should have said that the first time ,but guess I didn't explain that. My fault.. hope to hear from you guys again.

If the fan barely moves, something is wrong with the driveshaft or powerline from the engine and going thru the transaxle. The expensive transaxle parts are probably okay.

I see your tractor should have keys in the shaft. My 300 only has a spring pin and I had that shear. Can you grip the shaft going into the transaxle with a vise grips and hold it from turning. Then try to turn the engine (not with the key start) to see if something has sheared.

Perhaps the internal drive shaft in the trans has broken??

Thanks Bob, Jim, and Roger for your input. It was very helpful. Forgot to say that the deck wont go up or down either, but that stands to reason if the pump is not turning. With deck in the up position it might fun trying to get it off. As far as serial# goes, it sets in the shed a my nephews in laws farm and wont see him for a week or so I couldn't give you that right now. As always you guys on this forum are simply the best. Thank you much.

If deck height adjusting knob(parts key #1) is unscrewed the deck should lower by gravity.

Thanks Jim.. I'm sure that will work for lowering the deck. Holy crap 13 inches of snow here in Freeborn,Mn. last night and early this morning. We should be digging dirt in the garden not cleaning snow off the driveway.

Fan turning slowly indicates a sheared key on drive-shaft or possible slipping clutch(parts key #13A or 13B) What's the machine serial number? plate
