I am restoring a unstyled A john deere I believe to be a 36 serial number 435098 it has a rockshaft lift on the back. just wondering how many were made with that rockshaft lift in the unstyled and if it makes it more rare and worth more with it. thanks

There is no published Preoduction Register available to the public, and it is likely that sometimes Powerlifts were not recorded in the register. There really is no way to tell just how many left the factory with the lift.
They were available right from the start and it has been published that they grew in popularity pretty quickly. An original on a 38 would be much more common than on a 34. They are not rare at all, but likely do add some value to the tractor for most people.
If your powerlift still has it's serial number tag, and you don't mind sharing, I would be interested to know what it is for some records that I keep. The tag is a small strip on the rockshaft housing right under the pedal spring. It will read PL- and 4 or 5 digits. Your tractor serial number falls in an area where they changed from the early style valve body and small pedals to the improved body with adjustable drop and the large pedals. Even if the tag is gone I would be interested to know which style it is. E-mail is always open if you prefer.
Your tractor was built about 5/1/36.
Happy Birthday : )
