I got a 48 A that im wanting to remove the screens. My grill is in prety good shape but needs a couple bars straitend. The screens are strait and dont need any work.My question is what is the best way to get them loose from the grill without messing them up? Looks like there spot welded on .Puting them back on do you have to tack weld them and hope you dont burn through the grill. Thanks.

I put new ones in my '50 B and used JB Weld and it worked/is working just fine. That's been 3 yrs ago and it sees plenty of work time. If you don't care about rust where you burn it then mig weld it. It won't burn through as you only need to spot it.

Drill the spotweld, . Remove the screens, straighten your bars, then use a wire welder and re attach the screens in the holes you drilled to remove the screens..

Autobody supply stores sell a special bit to drill spot welds. This is what I'd try. Drill the spot welds fix what needs done and then retack with a mig.

Wish I'd of known about these 20 + years ago I would of fixed my old A grills up better. This was back before you could even buy new replacement screens.
