I had my starter rebuilt, put a new light switch in and I have the agri services wiring harness with circuit breakers and alternater with voltage regulator on alternater. My problem is the clutch side head light works, the starter won't kick in and when I push the starter button in the flywheel side headlight and dashlight will come on. Also the red charge light is not coming on either and I've chased all wires and they seem to be hooked where they're suppose to be. If anyone can understand my writing all helpand advice would be appreciated

It's either not wired correctly or wiring harness is incorrect for your tractor. Do you have the small wire or better yet fuse attached from LH rear battery post to frame? Unless it is a restored tractor and I was installing a new wiring harness & alternator I would have changed it to a 12 volt system

I know Jim at Agri Services and having seen his work, I just doubt his harness is wrong so I also have to go with somethings NOT wired right.

A while back our friend Tom 43 raised the 24 volt topic and Tx Jim there and several of us including yours truly covered it in great detail, you may wanna go back and review all that.

In order for the switch to best operate all the 12 volt POS grounded devices as well as 12 volt NEG grounded devices in cases where the two arent functioning is series (wouldnt require any frame ground connection at the batteries mid tie point) the A and B battery feeds up to it need to be in place and where the batteries tie together in the middle that point has a small jumper to the tractors frame ground, I agree with Jim, see if thats in place????????? if so then re check you have the correct harness for your tractor and the wiring just once more

Good luck, let us know what you find

I understand, I didnt give all the details, was in a hurry.....Knowing Jim I bet if he had the SN and the tractor wasnt modified the harness is correct!!

Yeah guys it's a 720 diesel, and I found I did have a wire in the wrong place on the starter and I also had one bad battery. I appreciate all you guys help and advice, these 24 volt systems can be contrary, thanks again Bob

I read the part about flywheel side but thought it was a mistake. Dang it I guessed wrong again although there's not a whole lot of difference between the 2 cyl & New Generation 24 V systems.

The wiring harnesses Jim sells at Agri Services for a modest price. Are of higher quality, superiour workmanship and container better instruction.than some electrical equipment I"ve seen approved for the Nuclear Industry.
