I have a 490 I think 1985 year.I have a leak hydraulic leak.I removed the inspection plate in front of the boom. filled with fluid. I think the rotary manifold is the problem. What is the easiest way to remove. I see that it is attached on the top by a bar I see the bolts on bottom side. I know all the hoses have to be removed and marked. Do I remove the hoses in front for the boom to get to the manifold. there seams to be no easy route to get to any thing. the rubber bushing ( for lack of a better word) that seals water from the top down . Will that clear all the connection on the side of the manifold when it is lowered down any help would be great Thank you

I haven't worked on any as small as the 490, but on the 892 you pull the ruber boot off from the top. These units usually have wear on the inside that requires an industrial chrome building up plus resealing. Take it to the dealer or good hydraulic shop that can pressure test the unit before installing it.The inner and the outer parts need to be marked prior to dissambly and "clocked" on assembly this will greatly help when it comes time to hook up the lines on the top side.

I would like to get a rebuilt or is it cheaper to rebuilt with machining and putting together. Do you know of any place that would handle rebuilt

I don't know about rebuilds. I have had good luck with Pape equipment the JD-Hitachi dealer for N. Calif,Nev Ore, Wa.. The last one I had done was for a EX300 Hitachi which required machine work and cost $1380.00. hope this is helpfull.
