Oil Drain Plug Confusion-35A

There are two plugs in front of the oil filter and one plug close too but behind the filter. Do you drain the crankcase by opening all three plugs? I have an owners manual but its vague at best. Thanks

Oil came out of both front ones. I have determined that the plug behind the filter is to drain the transmission. I would like to know why there are two drains plus the oil filter drain for the crankcase?

The plug just ahead of the oil filter is in the bottom of a sump with a raised ridge around it on the inside. It's the sump for the oil pump pickup. The other plug is just outside of this sump and will drain a little more oil that is trapped outside the sump.
The other drain is for the tranny. There's more than one of those too : )
