DLTX bowl and nut leaking

What is the best way to seal up the nut on the bottom of the bowl? Every time I take one apart I have trouble with them leaking. On my A when I put a new float and a carb kit in it I had to tighten the crap out of it to keep it from leaking. Now I put a carb kit in my other A and its leaking also.Im afraid if I tighten too much it will break the stem off.I wire wheeled buffed the bottom of the bowl and the nut I put new gasket on it. Is theres any thing im missing? Do I need to put any pipe dope or some kind of sealant on the gasket?

Everyone is cutting costs where ever they think they can get away with it. Where is the origin of the carb kit? Get some good quallity gasket material from a reputable auto parts store and make your own for those critical areas. Comes in different thicknesses. Will almost guarantee what that carb came with new isn't what the kit has in it for gaskit quallity.

I bet the kit came from china. I bought the kit from Sharps tractor parts. The gaskets are real thin.I will try to make one out of gasket material from NAPA. Thanks

It seems like almost every gasket I tried on my A leaked. Bowl, nut, sediment bowl. I ended up making my own gaskets out of some thin rubberized cork gasket material. No more leaks.

You are right by not overtightening it as the stem will break.
I always had good luck by applying a small amount of non hardening permatex evenly to both sides of that gasket before installing it.

I buy all my gaskets from Roberts Carburetor 712-262-5311.(www.robertscarbrepair.com) you will find they are superior to OE and all the other aftermarket carb kits for John Deere.
