I have owned this tractor for 14yrs. I decided 3 yrs ago to do a complete teardown and rebuild. Here is what it looked like when I started.

Very neat.
I do not have the time or the balls to take on such a project.
Please continue to post pictures of the process and let us know what your cost of parts comes out to be and how many hours you have into it.
 
Looks like my 37 A did a few years ago. Not sure if I will do another like it for a while, although I did enjoy it during the process. I have most of my receipts still, but I don't want to add them up.

Great piece of work on the pictures and sequence. Suggest you post this post in Articles on this site , it would be a great guide for anyone wanting to do a complete teardown.

It's a lot of work but you get the fun of doing it and the great pride in your accoplishment when it's done.
I have a '36 very like yours (or rather, like yours will be). Thanks for posting the pics.

Many would have called the before pic "parade ready' / "restored" on e-bay! At least now you can call it that and sleep at night. Should be a gem when done and lots of satisfaction too. What's that car covered up behind it?

Thanks for comments. I feel the same way, I will feel good about saying restored. It is a 61 Chevy Impala owned by brother.
 
Thanks for the pictures. I"ve restored several myself, but don"t manage to take enough pictures at the right times. I can appreciate the amount of work you"re doing. Thanks for taking the time to share these with all of us. Keep "em coming.
 
Your restoration looks very nice and will be one great looking tractor when completed. I have a 1942 B and was wondering if you know where I may find main bearings? I have not torn the engine apart but want to soon. The main bearings are the only bearings I cannot find.If you have any idea I would appreciate it! Thank you!

As far as I know your tractor would have shimable bearing inserts. The ones in my tractor I think are the original ones. I have replaced all of the bearings except the mains. Good luck on yours. I will post some pics of my mains.
 
Looks like you are getting it right ! That's the only way to do one. Clear down to the bare bones.
Amazing what you find when you go looking too.
That's the only way I can stand to do them. But it takes LOTS of time and money too. I ran out of time,money so I just haven't done any in years.
 
By the looks of the way that tarp lays on the back , it appears to be a "bubble top". One of the best lookin' Chevys ever built. Post some pics of it sometime if you get a chance please. You guys have good taste in antiques! RB
 
Brandon you should have babbitt bearings. If they're worn beyond adjustment ability, you need to have the crankshaft turned & send the entire bearing assemblies to a guy that pours babbit. Same with your connecting rods. They are spun while the babbit is poured in. Then machined to your crankshaft size.
 
Looks something like whats cookin in my shop. I got a G down to the frame and switched out a maincase. I'm having some troubles finding some bearings for my transmission. Let us know if you are replacing any and where you get them from. Deere has some I need but out on many I want to replace. Looks good!

I am replacing all of the roller type bearings in the tractor. I got mine from Motion Industries. I made a Excel spreadsheet listing the JD number and the corrisponding number from the brearing. Like New Departure 1205. They were able to get everthing in needed. Cost me between $600-$700.
