8960 hinge pins

I noticed the other day that the top shim pack is missing. There is a lot of up and down movement in the top hinge (3/8). Has anybody had these come out? It does not look to hard to put them back in, I am guessing one pin at a time should eliminate the need to build splitting stands. Forward backward movement is tight. Any warnings or advice would be appreciated.

I have never changed them in a 60 or 70 series,,I have done a few 8630 and 40's, on those I set a jack under rear and 2 on the front (to keep the front from rocking.
