well we bought another tractor yesterday at a sale, pretty nice 60, it was billed as a 1955 year model, i lost my book and havent had a chance to verify that yet tho. this tractor does not have power steering but it does have a hole up by the radiator cap. i'm wondering if this is the right sheet metel for the tractor or if it came off a model 60 with power steering? p.s.- we dont buy em to sell on ebay, we buy em cause we like em and want one of each! |

I've got a 55 model 60. It didn't have power steering when I got it but did have the hole with a plug in it. Was my uncle's tractor. don't think the nose was ever changed.

parts book shows the orchard hood didnt have the plug and early regulars and standards didnt either.Looks like later regulars and standards came with the hole regardless of options. Bill

I have a 54 model 60 and it has no power steering, it does have the button though. It also has a radiator pressure cap. I have owned it for 30 years so it is original. Joe

You can get a plug that snaps in and covers that hole. I got one from Deere for a 630 years ago.

The radiator cap looks like the early style non-pressurized version to me. Maybe its not. It was at serial number 37000 that power steering became an option. After that all the nose cones had the hole punched for the steering reservoir dipstick.
