D guage color

Wanting to know what the correct color guage to get for my 46 D. White or black? I believe the ones I just took off were black, but they were so faded i really couldnt tell. Thanks for any information/

White. Black were used starting with the numbered series. A few A's had them at the very end of their run but that may have been because the 60 started production about 3 months before the A ended it's run.
