Got a '48 G, 12 volt and has a distributor. It kicks back terrible when trying to start it, can someone tell me which way I need to twist the distributor to fix this problem? or is there a problem somewhere else. Thanks

Turn the top of the distributor toward the front of the tractor. (Clockwise) this retards the timing.

That (kick back from firing too early before TDC) can be tough on starters, get her timed so while at the initial cranking RPM shes firing pretty close to TDC and after that the advance will kick her up as RPM increases..
