G and A pedestals?

I just brought home a late G with a rollomatic front end that I'm not sure I want to keep on the tractor (never liked how they looked). Does anyone know if the standard vertical spindle assembly from a late A will work in the G pedestal?

I dont guess I ever really noticed that there was much difference in how a ROM looked vs. how a rigid front looked on a tractor....The ROM might make a tractor sit just a tad higher in the front than a rigid, but I cant really think of any other visual. It would be hard to tell the difference from a galloping horse :)

I do know there is a ton of difference in how they ride and drive across uneven terrain with a ROM vs. a rigid front.

As for whether or not they A and G are the same... I wouldnt take anyones word for it but rather, I would consult the parts catalogs which are both viewable and downloadable from jdparts.com by clicking on "parts catalog" on the homepage.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do but I'd plow with it a round or two before I took it off. Who knows? It may win you over to being a ROM lover :)

Thanks guys. That high in the front look is exactly what I don't like about a ROM equipped tractor. I'm going to try a set of 16.9's on the back before I make a decision. I have an A parts tractor and the pedistal looked quite similar so I just wanted to see if it was a viable option.

Larry, part A1421R is just the dust excluder which welds onto the spindle, the part John Deere calls the "extension" is what you mean, and yes it is the same for the "A" and "G" #A401R.
