John Deere B Magneto

I took off of my 47 B a C-1042 magneto. It was completely locked up, so I figured I need a new one or rebuilt. I see that a x-1042 looks like it will fit my B too. Does anyone know if it will or should I stick with the Wico C model? Also any leads on where to get a good rebuilt one?

A Wico XH-1042 is the mag for your '47.

Google Wico XH-1042 and you'll find a lot of places that rebuild or sell them outright.

Yours should have an X, they really aren't that hard to rebuild however. If your magnet is still good you should just be able to order the other parts clean everything good and replace. I believe a x is hotter but I dot know. JonhT on here will be able to explain better..

Some of the early 1947 B"s had the model C magneto on them. I have the Owner"s registers from my local dealership and it lists several new 1947 B"s that went out the door with the Wico C on them.
