John Deere 435 Final Drive Gear Swap

I am currently dismantling my 435 to install a pre
31000 ring and pinion, and post 31000 final drives
to gear it down. I finally got the axle shafts
popped out of the bull gears today, and when i
went to put the 1010 bull gear it didn't fit in
the housing. it is approximately 1/4" thicker
than the stock 435 gear. So i am wondering, was i
mistaken to think that i can put the 1010 gears in
my final drive housings, or are the bull gears
supposed to be the same thickness? when i
compared the bull pinions, they were also about
1/4" thicker at the gear part. Any info would be
great! thanks

Ive not done it myself; but I think youd want the earlier style 1010 final drive gears (before 31000 s/n). The ring/pinion should be correct (make sure you swap both). . . you want to make sure its the right tooth count as there were several options depending on the tractor model.
