A buddy of mine is looking at this tractor, used, 2 years old. Is this machine the economy version of the 3000 series? Any problems to be aware of? Is there a real fuel gage? It is at a used tractor/implement dealer.

Am not sure think it is built on a Renault platform. The regular 3000 series are Renault based. If it is a Deere 250 series engine it is similar but smaller than the Cummins B. The oil pressure relief valve is in the timing cover.

Yes they are Economy tractors. STAY AWAY from it. Spend the extra money for a higher quality tractor. The D series are a little better.

The new model number scheme is the series/size - "3", followed by the 3-digit HP - "38", and the letter denotes the "trim" level of the tractor - how "fancy" it is. Kind of like "LS" and "LT" on Chevy's. Thus, the "3E" has a few more features than the "3D"
