The Clutch is Out of the 47 A

Success but what happens now? What should I be looking for with the disassembled clutch? Obvious things include broken and worn plates, worn and rusty adjustment springs, no cone washers. Do the driver faces need to be resurfaced or can I just clean them up and reinstall? Only one of the toggles seems badly worn but I have no point of reference for the dogs although the bottoms of the cups are thinner than the rest of the cups. Are toggles and dogs JD parts or is there another source and should I replace the entire set?

I have a pile of parts and sure could use some direction. Thanks again guys. By the way, after being under pressure overnight it took just a couple of more turns to pop the driver loose.

Clean the driver up good with a wire wheel and follow up
with a flap disk. If its pitted bad then you may want to find
another, also look for cracks as later As tend to have
problems with that. The parts you need can be found
aftermarket, look on YT maybe. If not here, check out
Contrary Acres. I get clutch parts from him and have been
satisfied.

Sharpe"s antique tractor parts has everything you need to rebuild your clutch. New dogs clutch facing Google sharps tractor parts to get their web site super nice people I have bought a lot from them at great prices.

It looked like I was cruising to an easy and relativity cheap clutch repair until the flapper wheel revealed cracks in the both the driver and adjustment plate. I'll probably spring for a new driver but am wondering if the ductile iron adjustment plate is worth the money or a good used one would suffice.

Thanks again guys.
