JD A flywheel nut removal

Hello I'm working on a later style JD A. We are trying to remove the flywheel off and I already have the two bolts out. How do you remove the big tin nut from the shaft? Is it threaded? and if it is and has to be turned what is the best way to hold the flywheel from spinning since the rods and everything else are disconnected.
Thanks

The nut is threaded but if you look there is a groove on the shaft and the nut is locked by using a punch to bend a tab in the groove. You must take a small chisel and drive it under the tang and bend it up out of the groove then you can turn the large nut counterclockwise.

To keep it the flywheel from turning you could hook a high lift jack into one of the holes on the flywheel or put a rope through a hole and tie it off to the rear axle.

Thank you guys for all the help. I actually got the flywheel off
tonight with no problem at all after that. Thank you
