big bill 02-28-2013 20:29:54 174.255.80.182 Report to Moderator	Neighbor has a 4230 with some kinda small knock..he now wants to get rid of it..about what's the going price on a in frame overhaul..that's if the crank is ok that is..someone else would be doing the work...just tring to see if its worth buying..I just need to know how much...I don't need any smart mouth comments that is..thanks..bill.. larryanderson 03-01-2013 06:33:11 184.21.172.50 Report to Moderator	Re: 4230 in frame overhaul price in reply to big bill, 02-28-2013 20:29:54   $4000+ would be starting fiqure.I know of several that went thru our local JD service center at 9K+.There is a right way and a cheap way and the right way usually is cheaper in long run.The salvage value is around $5K if it has a Sound Guard cab and good running average ones are around $11/12K.I like running ones with out noises. Machine shop bill on the head will be in the $400-$800 range depending on if the valves or seats need to be replaced to get the proper valve standout. Figure another $100+ for oil,filters, antifreeze. About 16- 20 hours labor. This is assuming the pump and injectors are good and the crank isn't damaged. [Reply]  [No Email]
