deere329 engine timing on 2840 tractor

Book says to use the #3 on injection pump gear. Is that correct for a 6 cyl. engine? There is a #6 on that pump gear. When I put it on #3 it doesn't look like the picture in the book. Thanks very much.

The gear is marked for 3,4 and 6 cylinder engines, use #6 mark, have the mark headed toward the crankshaft, as well as the other marks, I use 2 hack saw blades zip tyed together a bit past the half way and spread them open to form a "Y"
