We are looking at running a planter with a 3020, but will need 2 SCVs. We have a 1970 3020 and a 1967 3020, each with one SCV. Can I rob the one from the early 3020 and put onto the side console 3020 or are they totally different? I also have a 4640 with an extra SCV. Could I make that fit the side console 3020? Thanks for any help!

SCV's can't be switched from early to late 3020 or vise-verse. Easiest way on older 3020would be a Fasse valve or plumb a spool valve similar for loader operation. On late model I'd add the factory scv if it were mine such as the 4640 scv

(quoted from post at 14:24:35 02/25/13) The 4640 valve will work, you will need 2nd valve adp. plate,AR73691 Kit #; & dif. linkage & handle in console.. 67" 3020 totally dif. from 70" 3020...
The part # I find is AR71188 COVER,ROCKSHAFT CONTROL VALVE W/ ADD 429.60 USD

The part AR73691 is no longer available. Contact your local John Deere dealer for other options.

Thanks for the help everyone. It looks like I will borrow the extra valve from the 4640 and use it since an earlier 3020 or 3010 valve will not work with this side console outfit.

Intersted in the SCV you have available. Please let me know how much you would want for it. Would need it shipped down to Texas. Phone number is 281-507-5686 or email is open.

Thanks,

John

Selective Control Valve, but I really never use that fancy terminology. Hydraulic outlet is more for me... Don't feel too bad!

Why scrounge a valve off of another tractor and leave it naked? Just get another 1-2 valve and plumb it into the line in front of the brake pedals. Lots of discussion here lately how to do that.

This is an explanation of terminology not intended to upset anyone.

The people on this forum such as I that were associated with JD equipment on the dealer level back 40-50 years ago are very acquainted with these terms. It just comes natural for these people to refer to objects with the same terminology as they were listed in parts and sales literature so it's actually not fancy to us.. Besides scv another term I use is SGB which is what JD started identifying their cabs in 1973 until 1993. Plus try looking up hyd outlet in a 3020 parts catalog for >SN 123,000 to find parts for the remote outlet. I'll bet you won't find it under that nomenclature.
