John Deere M part help

I hate to admit it but we changed the real axle on the M, removed only the axle, seat, PTO and pump.

Yet, we have these two bolts left over and I can't
begin to figure out where they go :<

Anyone recognize these??

Picture Attached I hope

Those are special cap screws [b:654c4848f0]M 345 T[/b:654c4848f0].

They go on the bottom of the rear cover and are used with the power shaft shield.

The photo below shows two very dirty, greasy, special cap screws at the rear cover on "Sparky" our 51M.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply. Our m has a hinged pto shield and the posts it hinges on seem to be cast in. I will look again tomorrow for the bolts you refer to. Am I correct we are both talking about the pto shield? And what is the wheel I see in your picture?

Yes, power shaft shield is the name used in the parts catalog for what we call the pto shield.

[b:654c4848f0]bill mart[/b:654c4848f0] identified the wheel.

Thank you both for your time and effort with this.
The M is complete, all parts installed and runs like a kitten. We return it to the student next week. It was his grandfathers tractor and it is nice to
send it home for another generation
