JD 630 oil slinger

My 58 JD 630 has slung oil out of the fly wheel side since I got it about 9 years ago. Have a brand new shop now and I can't live with the oil drippings when I drive it on the shop apron and inside so I end up with card board everywhere. I looked at my parts book to identify parts that likely should be replaced. My local JD dealership don't really know much about 2 cylinder tractors so they could not give me any advice on what parts I really needed to fix the problem. I did order the following parts/key:

1. A4400R/10 gasket
2. A4224R/12 packing
3. D2009R/13 spacer drive pin

We could not figure out if AA5409/11 spacer was needed or not. (It subs to A3324R,with packing)
A3324R lists for $277.98 so I don't want to order it if not needed as Mother Deere won't take it back. I don't skimp on parts but I don't want to throw away $278 either.

Has anyone done this repair and can give me some advice on parts usually needed and some hints on repair issues. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I'm getting the tractor ready for a tractor cruise our antique club is planning for May and I don't want to be dripping lots of oil.

You shouldn't need the spacer. Might not need the drive pin if it's not chewed off. they are just driven in with a hammer. Should come out with a vice-grips. If not just drill it.

Thanks Mark. Do you know what acts as the seal? I will also check the oil drain to be sure it is not plugged and keeping oil up against the slinger.

you probably only need part 10 and part 12 on the parts diagram in the parts catalog. your drive pin is probably ok. on the one I just did today also needed part 20, some how mine was cracked. It all will probably cost you about $20.00 total for the two parts.

I looked up part key 20 (thrust washer) and noticed Mother Deere wanted over $50 for it. It must be some special washer. At least we can still get some of these parts for restoration.

Make sure to use feeler gauges or shim stock and center the outer cover around the slinger as you tighten it up.
