We have a 4020 side console powershift that has been on the farm forever and the other day I decided to look up the SN for the hell of it and it comes up to a 1969.

I always thought they never started making side consoles till 70?

Dad bought a new hyd. on dash 4020 in the fall of 1968 as Deere had a large rebate to sell the older tractors because the side console tractors were already on the dealer lots.Having never owned a side console he did not know what he was missing and it was a step up from the 70 diesel he traded.

One week later he traded his 720 diesel on a used 4020.Both 4020's had aftermarket cabs one was narrow front and the other wide front. The new one with cab and narrow front cost $6800.

I want to say a fellow my dad knew years ago took delivery of his 1969 4020 SC right about Thanksgiving of 1968. Too bad the local dealer went out around 1966 as it would have been fun riding by a Deere dealer then (intro of the side consoles) as a kid and look out the window of the family car and looking at the tractors.

Deere's model year usually begins in the fall of the preceding year. 1969 models actually began production around 1 October 1968. Side consoles were manufactured in the 69, 70, 71 and 72 model years. Furthermore, when there were virtually no noticeable changes between model years (like from 1969 to 1970), they kind of "ran together" and sometimes farmers bought brand new tractors that actually may have been a carryover from the previous model year.

Looks like your 620 "sold" on ebay, I assume the buyer backed out again since you have it listed here on ytmag? No Reserve in your terms also means I will have someone buy it back if I don't get what I want right?

Here is a picture from the top of my recently sold items list. Feel free to let me know where the 620 is on that list because I can't seem to find it.

Looks like it did sell hot shot unless someone is stealing your pics and description. You stated in an earlier post that the older guy think your just a " dumb kid" or something along that line. I can understand why now.... also notice the 70std that sold 3 times is back on. Don"t quit your day job bud.

I see, so back in the day it would have been advertised as a 1970 model?

They made late model 4020 s for 4 model years 1969 1970 1971 1972 The 1969 may have been made the last part of 1968 The 4230 came out in 1973 but they could have built some in the last part of 1972.
