3020 mw turbo

I was wondering if someone has installed a different turbo instead of the mw one. I need one but do not want to do a whole lot of modifications to make it fit.

I put one on our 1972 3020 altering a 4430 manifold and a 4020 intake, it was a "major" ordeal. I had the exhaust manifold 'split' and re-welded it to get the clearance I needed, it ended up working out well with the muffler going up through the original hole in the hood. I don't have any pictures of it handy to share with you.

Tim, did you cut and weld them on the block, or in a jig, or sent it out to a welding shop and told them to make it a certain length? What was used for rod to weld the cast?

MOST ANY GOOD DIESEL PUMP SHOP WILL BE ABELE to help you m &W turbos were air research or there were two others that i cant rember right now M&W made the kit not the turbos

I'm trying to remember how I did it,,I had a machine shop split the exhaust manifold and I spot welded it on the engine as I lined it all up then I welded it with 7018 (my favorite stick rod), for the intake I used a 4020 manifold and cut and capped the front end, then I bored a hole in the right place for the turbo pipe to match up and welded the neck on for the hose. I did this 5 or 6 years ago, and screwed with it all week,,not sure it was worth the trouble. My little brother liked to grind feed with it, and it wasn't dealing with the grinder well,,this helped it ,,but now a 4020 with turbo is grinding the feed,,and making the old 750 mill sing...I'll try to get some pics of it tomorrow,,mail me if you want to talk about it..
