Crap! 2940: Replacing a fuel filter bleed screw. Twisted off

I was replacing my fuel filter on my 1981 2940 and when I was tightening the bleed screw it twisted off. What steps do I need to do to replace it. I guess the whole filter unit must come off. Should I shut the fuel supply off in the mean time? A step by step cure is needed.

Thanks

I would shut fuel tank cock off until plug is replaced. Remains of plug should screw out easily. R48071 DRAIN PLUG

Thanks for the reply TX Jim. Can you direct me to the fuel shut off? Nothing shows in the ops manual.

Thanks Jim and Cooney M.

The "Stub" did screw out and the new part will be ordered. Jim, I pinched the hose coming from the fuel tank so it's off. I will check.

This kind of results and help from you guys is what makes the internet great.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Something interesting seen in the parts book was an electric fuel filter heater. It turns into that extra port and keeps the fuel above the gell point with 12V power.

It appears that I was incorrect as the 2940 doesn't have a fuel tank shut-off valve so vice-grips would be the only way.

Would you provide the fuel filter heater part #. I can't locate it in the 2940 parts catalog?? Must be something for tractors built for European sales.
