Powr-trol oil question

I have a JD 60 and the manual says to run the same weight of oil in the engine, in the powr-trol. Some of the rest of the tractors on the farm use the regular green hydraulic oil. My question is can I run the regular green hydraulic oil in the powr-trol on the 60 without any problems? I can't see why it would make much of any difference, but I thought I would just check to make sure. Thanks, Aaron

i had the same question a few months back, seems other guys run hy-gard in their power-trol and some engine oil. i switched mine over to hy-gard with no problems yet

Hydraulics usually call for non detergent oil due to foaming. If you use the same equipment with other tractors that has a remote cylinder it is probably to use hy guard so you don't get contamination.

I use hygard in my A with no problems. If you will be connecting to a cylinder used on anything newer it will already probably have some type of hydraulic oil in it anyway and your Powertrol will be cross contaminated.

I have been using JD Hy-Guard in my JD 70 and 830 for at least 25 years with no problems. That way I can use implements that I also use on my newer JD tractors that require the use Hy-Guard. Al
