Keep in mind that the tooth count is different between gas and diesel flywheels,wondering if you starter guy is on the right page... |

| FYI; I put a diesel starter that was converter to 12 volts on our GAS 4020 by just switching the drive. I think the armature shaft was larger back where the bushing goes but was not where the drive sets. Only reason I even tried this was because I had these parts laying around and didn't cost me anything. |

| Thanks, the ones I've seen are quite a bit different, I was fighting a late 4020 LP once and couldn't find much to work with. chris |

| Our 4020 gas is an early one 1965 ? and that 24 volt starter came off a early jd500 TLB (3020)tried the starter conversion on the 500 and I didn't like it. Didn't seem to turn over very good ? so I got a late 4020 D 12 volt starter for it. |
