Are there any upgrades for the internal or external hydraulic plumbing on the 2940? I am spliting the tractor to do repairs on the pto clutch and to look at every thing else. I have read the advice about going through every thing when you have a major hydraulic problem, so I intend to do this. Any other advice to prevent future problems? I have already done the trouble shooting and narrowed the problem down, and I understand about the debris going through the whole system.

Keep the filter and oil clean. If the filter plugs, the relief and divert valves will chatter and shake which breaks lines and fittings.

One of the internal pipes was changed & Deere had a kit for the upgrade. Had to bore & tap one hole from the outside. Seems like that was sort of a stop for the tube but it was years ago & my memory ain't what it used to be. I think the 2950 was the same but not positive.

Yes and at one time they used a different bushing with a grip on it to help with the problem, they should have built a housing with enough meat in it to work the oil routes, like the Waterloo's do, this pipe thing was the main start of their problems...

One of the things to pay special attention to is where the pipes join the housings, they must stay in place as you go together to avoid leakage in that area..and not be able to push or "pressure" away later..

I would guess if JD upgraded anything on hyd's it would have to do with the supply tubes for the hyd hi-lo & LPTO. I checked parts catalog and the clutch disks for both clutches(hi-lo & pto) had substitute part #S right along with some sub part #s for the hyd oil tubes
