i am a young "hobby farmer" looking for a way to harvest 2-5-10 acres of field corn to sell to deer hunters in my area what would be a good method for doing this??old combine or picker-sheller any info or for sale machines would be appreciated

THIS IS HOW I DO ABOUT 2 ACRES EVERY YEAR. GET TO PLOW,PLANT,HARVEST, MAKE A LITTLE MONEY AND HAVE FUN.

Deer hunters like ear corn, not shelled. The animals don't eat it as fast. Anyone who wants shelled corn wants it for a timed feeder and it has to be 100% clean.

DWC, heck with equipment like that you should consider picking up some more acres. Thats a sharp looking harvest setup. I have the exact same wagon combo I think, looks like a Killbros 250 on JD gear with the hex shape on the wheel hubs?

I believe that is a 2510 in the photo. We used ours to pick corn as well but had a 237 Deere mounted picker. The picker is in the shed all oiled up but I doubt if we ever use it again.I am not sure what I like better my 2510 or 3020.Nice pic thanks for posting.

My children would say yes,but picking corn with a mounted picker was one job that I loved.I really liked the sound of the corn ears thumping in an empty gravity wagon and really liked to split down thru the middle of a corn field. We parked the picker on sheets of plywood to help kep moisture from the concrete drawing dampness and we sprayed the whole thing down with hyd. oil.So for now I think that I will keep it.I am glad to know that there are other people still interested in the mounted pickers.I have seen dozens of very good pickers go for scrap over he years.
