I took clutch off my 730 lp. It would not snap in. So I was told prob was toggles worn. But when I get everything tore down. They didn't look bad still round and had grease on them. I don't know about dogs not sure how to tell. So what else could it be. Just need adjusting. I noticed there is adjustments on throw out arm and wondering if that would help. I had no snap or even try to lock in. Works good just won't stay.

How deep do dogs go into toggles?? How worn is the hole in the clutch hub that slides on a pin in the clutch pulley? If the hole is oblong it will let the hub move altering the dimensions on the toggles & dogs.

well ill have to measure on the dogs later then.
they go in where all the round part is in the dog.
on the other the slide hole is good and round and
tight i checked that also. i havent really checked
the hole that the toggle sits in on the slider
either.

Clutch operating sleeve is not going over center to lock in. Check; for worn drive pin and oblong hole in tab of the operating sleeve. If OK; you need three new dogs and three new toggles.Last, check adjustment of the clutch operating rod; the two pads on the clutch collar may be worn, needing to adjust the rod to get the full movement of the operating sleeve so it snaps in .

Here is what I do , clean the toggles in solvent. Then put a dog and toggle together , tilt the toggle to the side . If the toggle hits the side of the dog , the dog is worn out,and will bind up. Usually you will see a worn ring (shiney) where the toggle hits
