730 fuel system

I started tinkering with this trying to get it going. There seems to be some sort of pumping apparatus built into the sediment bowl base. There are also two lines coming off it that go back up in under the dash somewhere. What are they for?

I have a DVD on rebuilding the carb, it is going to have to come off for a good cleaning.

I feel kinda dirty, working on a green one with half an engine, instead of a red one.

The pump thingy you're referring to is an engine oil pressure operated fuel cut-off valve. The is to keep fuel from filling crankcase if seat in carb fails.

Not a bad idea to change the diagrams in it if you have an empty tank of gas. Sooner or later they will fail and fill your crankcase with gas. They are not that hard to do or expensive to replace.

Thanks. This thing hasn"t run in probably 10 years, dropped the bowl off the carb and played with the needle with my knifetip, and it freed up, and still closes when the float is lifted.

I can't buy a green one either, this one's sittin in the back of the shop at work, and my red one's still sittin where I can't easily get to it. But that should change this summer.
