Working on the loadshaft of my 2520....it had a small leak but oil is so expensive, I decided to fix it.

I got a new shaft and seals. I tried the shaft in the old transmission bushings....a little loose, but not too bad. But the bushings on the drawbar support seemed pretty loose. They are supposed to be 1.035 inches, but I measured mine to be 1.060. Is that too loose to work and if so, can I drive the bushings out with the support on the tractor?

That is too loose. Also check the front pin and bushing in the support. They wear allowing the support to move up and down on the front causing the seals to twist slightly and fail prematurely. I almost always replace all of the bushings including the front bushing and pin when replacing seals. Also shim the support to the trans case so there is none to very little side to side movement.
 

Thanks for the info....I suspected that would be too loose.
Sadly, I only have the technical manual for the 2520; does the front pin drive out? I noticed there is a roll pin on the under side; does this hold in the bushing? How would I remove it if needed?

The front pin just drives out,the roll pin holds the bushing in place.When replacing the rear bushings pay attention to how they come out as the inside bore is tapered.Are your load shaft bushings the new style with an o-ring? Make sure use use a shim kit to remove all side to side play between the carrier and the trans. case.Another thing I like to check is the front pull pin for the drawbar, these wear egg shaped and allow the drawbar to flop.Latter 4020's had replacable bushings top and bottom. I buy those for the older tractors and have my welding shop drill new holes and spot weld them in.If they are not available for 2520's any good shop could make you a set.
 

Thanks for the info....my tractor has the original style bushings in the trans housing. I'm going to leave those in for now; just replacing all the others. I've got those ordered and they should be here next week. Local dealer network charges shipping if you want parts the next day or second day.
