1941 model b brake drum removal

My 1941 model b has the brake drums with no outside nut.It only has rivets on outside. I have looked at the drawings and it appears I either have to get in the tranny to take a nut off to remove the entire shaft or I grind rivets off of outside of drum. Neither make much sense to me. Can anybody set me straight ??

There are three bolts holding the brake assembly to the trans case. Remove those bolts and pull the the brake off. Then you can remove the castle nut from the shaft and pull the drum and shaft off. All this is done off of the tractor.

Thanks-Gonna look at it and give it a try . I just have not seen the bolts but maybe have not looked close enough yet.

Three bolts hold the whole brake assembly to the tractor

Checked the Service Manual SM2004 on page 150-5-2 under the [b:654c4848f0]REMOVAL[/b:654c4848f0] topic.

[b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]Remove left-hand brake by removing three cap screws. Remove right-hand brake by removing tow cap screws and one nut.[/i:654c4848f0][/b:654c4848f0]

Under the [b:654c4848f0]DISASSEMBLY[/b:654c4848f0] topic it gives instructions to [b:654c4848f0]Remove Pinion and Brake Drum.[/b:654c4848f0]

[b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]Remove cotter pin and slotted nut from end of shaft. Remove pinion gear by driving on end of shaft with a soft hammer. Turn adjusting screw out of housing as far as possible. Pull brake drum and shaft assembly from brake housing.[/i:654c4848f0][/b:654c4848f0]
