Does anyone know where to find the torque for the nut/rod on the fixed-stop type remote hydraulic cylinder? This would be for the nut (11) on the rod (44) on page 137 of the Model A (477000-) Parts catalog. This cylinder is common on the No. 5 mower. I'm not sure what else it may be located on.

Carlyle,
I'm refering to the single castle nut with cotter pin on the rod. The 4 screws have a torque spec. but none that I can find for the piston rod. I think I could easily overtighten that castle nut.

Thanks Pete.
That's about all I could find. Hesitant to tighten too much because you can easilly squeeze the rubber seal.

You're not going to find a torque value. Just tighten up the nut until the pieces on each side of the piston can't be turned or seperated, then back the nut up just enough to put in the cotter pin.

The Hydraulics Manual (SM-2011) only says "tighten nut securely and lock with cotter pin" in reference to nut(11).

The 4 cap screws for the end cap(7) should be torqued to 125 ft.lbs.

Have some one help you hold it with a short bar of some type, and draw the nuts up TIGHT. Has to be tight, cause the paper gaskets are very thin and if not tight enough will blow out, the very least LEAK. We have done several and after the first leaker, no more problems. As to TORQUE_____ ????
