John Deere 320 U

Hello, I have a 320 U that my father-in-law got from the state highway dept (he was a foreman) many years ago. I was going to get it running again but found the engine full of dirt and seized beyond salvage. The exterior looks pretty good. Will other model engines direct fit this? Thinking M or MT? Thanks.

Being that you have fairly rare and valuable tractor that otherwise is in decent shape I'd try to work with what you have to keep it original. These engines are pretty simple with a bored block design (no sleeves). Oversize pistons are readily available so a simple rebore and overhaul could get you going again.

This engine is really corroded and I"m not sure I can rebuild it. There was 3" of dirt in the oil pan. However, the block had coolant in it yet. I suppose I could get the internals but wondered if there was any difference between models.

I know it"s a rare one - the highway department bought it new in "57 and then went to my wife"s dad in the late 60"s. My wife says just sell it.

I would listen to your wife and sell it to me.LoL
If you need internal motor parts I have a bunch laying around. call me Dwight 970-690-1582

Most people wouldn't care but repairing the
existing block. Would keep the casting date in line
with the rest of the tractor's casting dates.

What Color is it? Yellow, Orange, etc??? I have a complete 40 motor i'd sell, plus some internal parts if you need them. Jeff N. Rottkamp 631 806 1181. Best of Luck!
